Guidelines

Gurukulam Do's and Dont's

1. Each student should have a computer to attend classes on.

2. Students should sit in a well-lit place with camera on so they are clearly visible to the teacher.

3. Younger children who are not reliably able to follow instructions and attend should be supervised throughout each class.

4. All homework should be completed in time. This will count towards students' grades.

5. Necessary writing and other class supplies/books should be kept readily available for use during classes.

6. No eating or reclining during class. Please find a comfortable place for the students to sit during their classes.

7. We provide a break for 10-15 minutes between every two successive classes, so please ensure that students make good use of this to refresh themselves and avoid interruptions during class.

8. Kindly maintain silence at home while classes are going on.

9. Please do NOT prompt your student when he/she is asked a question by a teacher. The teacher is attempting to evaluate your child's knowledge, and providing a false impression can only contribute adversely to the child's development.

10. Please ensure children get adequate sleep at night (at least 8 hours).

11. Since the online gurukulam day starts with yoga, either feed your child breakfast at least 2 hours before the start of yoga, or feed them breakfast at the next available break after yoga. In the latter case, something light such as fruit, may be given prior to yoga.

12. If parents have anything brief to communicate to the teacher, they should do so during the breaks prior to, or after, the class. For longer discussions, please contact us for an appointment.

13. Students must treat their teachers, peers - both senior and junior - with respect and courtesy. Bullying and use of foul language on any account will not be condoned.

14. Students must attend class in Bharateeya attire, including tying up long hair in a braid or ponytail, and wearing a Bharateeya symbol (bottu/bindi, urdhva pundram, vibhuti, chandanam etc.) on the forehead.

15. Parents are expected to provide students with a Samskritam-friendly environment at home, where parents encourage kids to speak in Samskritam when possible, and also use Samskrit terms and words in their daily conversation.

16. Students are expected to attend educational camps organised by the Gurukulam as these will be an integral part of the education imparted. At least one parent is required to attend the camp for all elementary students.

17. Students who repeatedly fail to follow gurukulam rules or are disruptive to the learning environment may be asked to leave the gurukulam.
