At Agastya Gurukulam, students learn all major subjects such as Mathematics, Ithihasa, Vignanam, Grammar, Samskritam, Mother Tongue, English, Yoga, and more. While the medium of instruction is Samskritam, Bharateeya Samskriti is also taught at formal and informal levels. These subjects are also taught in a practical manner, ensuring the preservation of their original format, linguistic beauty, and rasa.
Samskritam is one of the oldest languages in the world and an intrinsic part of Indian culture. Since it has been spoken for more than a thousand years, Samskritam holds an immeasurable treasure of knowledge for those learning it. It also allows learners to analyze and learn in ways they have not explored before.
Above all, Samskritam unlocks the doors to Indian heritage, culture, and values like no other language can. At Agastya Gurukulam, we believe that learning any applied subject immersively in Samskritam has multiple benefits. It is one of the prime reasons why students are taught to speak, write, and read Samskritam.
Through our training, children gradually gain proficiency in the language and can understand and explain the meanings of simple slokas. We expect their fluency to improve to a level where they can understand more complex works like the Ramayana Bhagavadgita.
Although India has significantly contributed to Mathematics, our own Vedic Math has lost information over the years after transitioning to Arabia and Europe. The transition of the topic eventually evolved into what is now being taught in schools.
However, our Mathematics syllabus is based on ancient and original Shastric texts. We rely on these sources because they specialize in applied mathematics rather than mere theory. With our syllabus, our students learn multiple ways to solve mathematical problems.
The Vignanam curriculum at Agastya Gurukulam goes beyond teaching scientific facts. The subject exposes students to the deep connections between Shastric wisdom and advanced science. We teach Vignanam, which is deeply entrenched in the rich traditions of Bharatiya knowledge systems while incorporating the latest scientific and technological advancements.
Ours is a carefully curated curriculum that blends traditional Indian scientific learning with modern concepts. The syllabus effectively covers the basics and delves into topics such as:
Agastya Gurukulam’s educational philosophy is centred on nurturing critical thinking and analytical skills while instilling a profound reverence for India’s timeless scientific legacy. Through this holistic approach, we aim to empower our students to become innovative thinkers and valuable contributors to the global community.
At Agastya Gurukulam, the Itihasa curriculum aims to revamp the distorted History currently taught in schools. This History supports a narrative that justifies colonial aggression while understating the achievements of the Bharateeya civilization.
However, our syllabus will take students through the accurate history of events in the Bharateeya civilization. It also teaches how our culture and Bharateeya civilization has been on a continuum for at least 11,000 years.
When we teach Bharateeya Itihasa, we focus on this continuum and the victories that helped sustain it. The curriculum highlights important personalities who lived and events from the Vedic period to the modern era.
We take pride in introducing students to long-forgotten historical personalities and events ignored in colonial textbooks, such as:
Kanthastheekaranam, or Memorisation, is instrumental in mastering Samskritam and understanding the language in its full glory. Our students engage in recitation and memorisation of fundamental texts and concepts integral to Samskritam. The subject is focused on enhancing students’ memory and comprehension of Samskritam’s deep-rooted principles.
Our curriculum for Kanthasteekaranam includes the following:
Learning materials for these memorisation exercises are provided through our Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure continued access to study resources for learning and Samskritam memorisation.
At Agastya Gurukulam, we believe that English is not only a global language but also the cornerstone of personal and intellectual advancement. We have curated our English curriculum to align with our institution's core ethos and seamlessly integrate traditional values with contemporary educational modalities.
We adopt an all-encompassing and forward-thinking approach to nurturing student’s innate communication skills and inculcating a profound reverence for literature and the intricacies of language. Our English Curriculum includes:
In a nutshell, Agastya Gurukulam’s English curriculum is meticulously designed to empower students to converse confidently in English, optimise the language to their advantage and appreciate the diversity of the language.
Currently, we offer several Mathrubaasha options, such as Hindi, Gujarati, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu. We are considering adding Marathi to the list for the academic year 2023-2024.
We may expand our list of languages as and when required. We utilize standard curricula provided by different educational boards, which are adjusted to meet our specific requirements.
